Stewart and the Roots of Black Political Thought, explores how pro-slavery forces viewed Walkers pamphlet as a threat, while he fervently worked to ensure that Black readers had access to his groundbreaking ideas. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Walker wrote specifically for Black audiences, and in the third edition, he included a powerful message urging all Black men, women, and children to obtain and engage with his Appeal ‚AúIt is expected that all coloured men, women, and children of every nation, language, and tongue under heaven, will try to procure a copy of this Appeal and read it, or get some one to read it to them, for it is designed more particularly for them.‚Aù
