About This Podcast

Well Traveled is a podcast on a mission.

For decades, the majority of medical research was conducted on male bodies - leaving women, particularly those in perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, without the full picture of their own health. But while Western medicine was looking the other way, healing traditions around the world had been deeply observing, understanding, and caring for women's bodies for thousands of years.

This show goes to find that wisdom.

Hosted by Dr. Alexina Mehta, Naturopathic Physician, each episode journeys to a different healing tradition - Ayurveda, Tibetan medicine, Andean healing, European herbalism, Greek and Egyptian Medicine, indigenous wisdom and more — and bridges its ancient intelligence with modern functional medicine, naturopathic science, and the latest neuroscience on the female brain.

We cover the topics that matter most to women in this stage of life — hormones, thyroid health, gut health, IBS, fatty liver, brain fog, bone health, sleep, anxiety, grief, trauma, the emotional life of your organs, botanical medicine, and the deeper spiritual dimensions of healing.

Because the answers you've been looking for have often existed for thousands of years - and modern science is just now catching up.

This is medicine for the curious, the worldly, and the woman who knows her health goes deeper than a prescription.
